Coroner Tommy Davis
Coroner Tommy Davis has served with the Newton County Coroner’s Office since being appointed to serve as a Deputy Coroner in 2003 for then Coroner Bob Wheeler. Davis served as a Deputy Coroner for five years until Wheeler retired in 2008.
The coroner’s position is elected. In 2008 Davis ran for office and was elected to serve as the Coroner. Now, in his third term, Davis looks forward to many more years serving the people of Newton County.
Coroner's Career
Davis started his career in the death care industry in 1984 while still in high school. Following graduation from high school he attended Dekalb Community College and then on to Gupton-Jones College of Mortuary Science. After graduation from college in 1988 he married his high school sweetheart Mary Evelyn Rogers. The couple moved to Newton County and have three daughters; Ashley, Amber and Shelby, along with two granddaughters.
