Running through May 31, 2019, Fiscal Year 2019 Hang Tags for use of the County Solid Waste Convenience Centers will be on sale at the reduced hours of 8 a.m. to noon at the Newton Historic Courthouse, 1124 Clark Street, Covington. Fiscal Year 2019 Hang Tags which are good for April, May, and June 2019 are for sale for $75.
Fiscal Year 2020 hang tags will go on sale June 1, 2019.
Newton County offers Trash Collection Convenience Centers to its residents in the form of six centers. These centers, which are strategically located throughout the county, accept household garbage, bulk waste, and recyclables. Up to 10 bags of trash, a week will be allowed.
Convenience Center Requirements
The tags expire on June 30. Attendants at the convenience centers will begin to check for these hang tags upon entrance to the centers. For all hang tags residents must complete an application and show proof of residency with a tax or utility bill, mortgage statement or lease agreement.
Purchase a Hang Tag
Residents may purchase hang tags online or drop off a Hang Tag Permit Application (PDF) in person at Newton County Historic Courthouse located at 1124 Clark Street in Covington. Purchases at these locations are available Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to Noon.

- Tuesday through Friday: Noon to 7 p.m.
- Saturday: 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
