Newton County’s rate of COVID-19 cases continues to climb with 695 positive tests in the last two weeks as of Aug. 24.
Along with case numbers reaching close to the highest point since the pandemic (91 confirmed cases on Dec. 31, 2020), the FDA recently approved the use of the Pfizer vaccine.
As of Aug. 25, 80,600 doses of the Pfizer, Moderna and Johnson and Johnson vaccine have been administered in Newton County. Currently the 35 percent (37,801 people) Newton County residents are fully vaccinated with 41 percent (44,2020) receiving at least one dose.
