Newton County's 200th birthday has been acknowledge by the state and local governments with proclamations throughout the year 2021. Proclamations were read and presented to the Newton County Bicentennial Committee starting with Newton County's own in January.
During its March 1 meeting, the Covington City Council recognized Newton County's Bicentennial and have since flown a flag at city hall marking the ocasion.

Newton County is celebrating its 200th birthday all year long with numerous events, service acts and acknowledgements.
Anderson read a proclamation from Georgia Senate recognizing 2021 as the Newton County Bicentennial and celebrating its 200th anniversary, adopted in the Senate on Jan. 27, 2021.
