[ARCHIVED] Newton County adds time, extra day to early voting locations

The Newton County Elections and Registrations Board has expanded early voting locations for the January 5, Senate Runoff Election.

Advance voting for the run-off begins Monday, Dec. 14 and will run through the Christmas holiday until Dec. 31. There will be no Saturday voting opportunity due to Christmas. 

During the first week of early voting, from Dec. 14 through Dec. 18, locations will include the Newton County Administration Building, 1113 Usher Street, Covington, Ga (in the North Entrance) and the Covington Branch of the Newton County Library, 7116 Floyd Street Ne, Covington, Ga. Hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. 

The second week of early voting runs from Monday, Dec. 21 through Thursday, Dec. 24. Voting will end at noon on Dec. 24 and be closed Dec. 25 due to Christmas Eve and Christmas. During this period and the final week of early voting, locations will be expanded to include Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 7037 Ga-212 North, Covington, Ga and St. Augustine Catholic Church, 11524 Hwy 278 East, Covington, Ga.

The final week of early voting will be Tuesday, Dec. 29 and Wednesday, Dec. 30 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Thursday, Dec. 31 from 8 a.m. to noon.

There will also be two absentee ballot drop off locations available for those who wish to turn their ballots in in person. Those locations include the Newton County Administration Building, 1113 Usher Street, Covington, Ga and the Sheriff's Office Westside Precinct, 3612 Salem Road, Covington, Ga.
