Board of Elections & Registration
For voters’ convenience, Newton County Board of Elections & Registration office has a secure drop box for submitting completed Absentee Ballots. The drop box is located at the North Entrance of the Newton County Administration Building, 1113 Usher Street, Covington, Georgia. Ballots must be received by 7:00 P.M. Election Day and must be returned to the issuing county in order to be counted.
The Newton County Board of Elections serves as the Superintendent of Elections for Newton County and is responsible for seeing that all voter registration and the conduct of elections comply with the laws, rules and regulations set forth in the Georgia Election Code and the Rules and Regulations promulgated by the State Election Board.
It is our mission to conduct voter registration and voting in Newton County in an efficient and trustworthy manner.
Absentee Ballot Request for November 3, 2020 Election
Voters may submit an absentee ballot application online through the Georgia Secretary's State Absentee Ballot Request Portal. Requirements to submit a request online include a valid Georgia Driver's License or Identification Card and being registered to vote in the State of Georgia. November 3, 2020 General/Special Election - Advance Voting
Advance voting will take place at the Newton County Administration Building beginning October 12, 2020 through October 30, 2020. The hours October 12, 2020 to October 23, 2020 are Monday - Friday, from 8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. The hours October 26, 2020 to October 30, 2020 are Monday - Friday from 8:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M. Saturday Voting will be on October 24, 2020 during the hours of 9:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. at the Newton County Administration Building. Advance voting will also be offered at Porter Memorial Branch Library located at 6191 Highway 212, Covington, Georgia October 26, 2020 to October 30, 2020 during the hours of 9:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. Voting is not permissible on the Monday immediately preceding the date of the election.

The Newton County Board of Elections and Registration will meet for its Regular monthly meeting Monday, October 12, 2020, at 4:00 p.m. in the elections office located at 1113 Usher Street, Suite 103, Covington. The public is invited.
