Barbara Dingler was appointed Tax Commissioner for Newton County October 1, 1999.  She began her career with the Tax Commissioner's office January 1, 1985. She was promoted to Property Tax Supervisor in 1987 and Deputy Tax Commissioner in 1998.

Mission:

My primary focus and responsibility is to the citizens of Newton County and to provide excellent service and assistance.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Preparing the county tax digest.
• Submitting consolidation reports to The Board of Commissioners, The Board of Education, and the municipalities.
• Delivering the digest to the Department of Revenue for submission.
• Billing and collection of real and personal property taxes
• Registration and titling of motor vehicles
• Billing and collection of mobile home taxes and issuing location permit
• Distribution of tax revenue to the State of Georgia, Board of Commissioner, Board of Education, Hospital Authority, Fire Districts and all of the Municipalities.
