Current Projects

Neighborhood Stabilization Program

Newton County has received approximately $1.7 million through the Federal Neighborhood Stabilization Program. The County is using those funds in two ways:
(1) Purchasing, renovating and reselling foreclosed homes and
(2) construction of a public park.

Housing

Newton County currently has homes available for sale, with homeowner assistance available for those who qualify per program guidelines. For information on homes that are currently available, please visit http://www.newtonnsp.org/. If you are interested in obtaining further information on NSP or in making an application for the program, please call Hariette Habersham at 678-487-2411. Persons with hearing or speech impairments may access TTY by phone through the Georgia Relay Service by calling 711. Assistance for those with visual impairments is also available.

Public Park

A portion of the NSP funds have been used for the construction of a public park to be located in the Fairview Estates neighborhood off of Fairview Road. The park will consist of a walking trail with benches, a pavilion with picnic tables and a playground. Construction of the park is anticipated to begin in September or October of 2010.
