Mission Statement:
The Finance Department collects, processes, advises, informs, monitors, analyzes, coordinates, and reports financial information and management data to ensure effective and economical use of public resources.  The Finance Department directs financial operations and internal management activities of Newton County’s Government.
 
Accomplishments:
The Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) has awarded the Newton County Finance Department a Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for Reporting of June 30, 2005, June 30, 2006, and June 30, 2007. The award is presented for their preparation of the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) for each fiscal year. This accomplishment is the highest form of recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting.
