The main areas of responsibility in this division are:

  • Plats for subdivision of land/property
  • Checking various development plans for compliance with Newton County ordinances
  • Distributing plans to various departments
  • Tracking/coordinating the responses of other departments and agencies
  • Issuing Land Disturbance Permits
  • Cemetery Preservation
  • Issuing Timber Permits
  • Preparing various reports, documents, and maps (many in ArcGIS format)related to Development Review
