All county roads cleared from Tropical Storm Irma
All Newton County roads are cleared from damage caused by Tropical Storm Irma.
However, debris still remains throughout the county. Newton County's Public Works Department has begun clearing the northern part of the county but cleanup of the entire county is expected to last at least a month.
Crews began working on a list of 80 blocked roads early Tuesday morning, securing power lines, removing trees and making sure the area was safe enough for travelers.
Newton County Sheriff’s Office deputies, Fire Service teams and Public Works crews worked around the clock under the direction of the Newton County Emergency Management Agency as Tropical Storm Irma began to impact Newton County Monday, Sept. 11.
