Building Services is Department of the Month for March
Visitors to the Newton County Administration Building, Judicial Center, Historic Courthouse and other county government buildings enjoy the comforts of well-maintained facilities thanks to a hard-working group of employees that keep those buildings in top working order.
The facilities and maintenance crew, or Building Services, of Newton County make up a small department but it’s one that carries its weight throughout each county facility.
Building Services Director Jason Johnson, supervisor Billy Stanley, custodians Dedrick Grier, Mae Stodghill and Joyce Waldrop heard their department named Newton County’s Department of the Month by Chairman Marcello Banes this month.
The crew has a combined 93 years of service in Newton County and operates on the mission statement of providing “safe, clean, comfortable and functional facilities for both our employees as well as our citizens.”
The department provides all aspects of building maintenance to county facilities either through in–house or outside vendors. Most all county building maintenance requests go through this office to provide the county with work order documentation, lower pricing, expedient services and better accountability for services rendered.
In addition to facility maintenance the department also provides custodial services and cleaning supplies to many of these facilities.
