The Newton County Board of Commissioners in Covington, Georgia is seeking candidates for the Development Services Director position. The Development Services Director performs work of extensive complexity in directing the multi-division Development Services Department. This position is responsible for directing the work of managerial, professional, technical and administrative staff in work associated with land use planning, zoning, land development, development permitting and inspection, building permitting and inspection, codes enforcement, and business licenses.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Qualified applicants must possess a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Planning, Public Administration, Business Administration, Engineering or other related field. Qualified applicants must also possess a minimum of seven years of progressively responsible related experience. AICP certification is preferred.
Final candidates must successfully pass the pre-employment process that includes a thorough background investigation, verification of prior employment and educational history and driving history.
