POSITION SUMMARY: This position is responsible for performing a full range of law enforcement duties in the patrol, civil, crime prevention, investigation, transportation, court security or correctional officer functions of the Sheriff's Office. The incumbent may be assigned temporarily to a specialty area within the Sheriff’s Office based on needs.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Must be at least 21 years of age and possess a high school diploma or GED.
This is a grant funded position which is only open to applicants meeting either of the following criteria:
1. Military veterans who have served on active duty at any time in the armed forces for a period of more than 180 days, on or after September 11, 2001 and who have been discharged or released from active duty under honorable conditions. P.O.S.T. Law Enforcement Certification Preferred but not required.
2. Military veterans who have served on active duty at any time in the armed forces for a period of more than 180 days, on or after September 11, 2001 and who have been discharged or released from active duty under honorable conditions AND previously laid off by any jurisdiction as a result of state, local or Bureau of Indian Affairs budget cuts. P.O.S.T. Law Enforcement Certification REQUIRED.
