In just over a month, Newton County Fire Station No. 2 has proven to be an asset to the people of the Rocky Plains Community and the County as a whole.
First opened on Dec. 11, Station 2, located at 3687 Highway 162, Covington Ga, is equipped with a Class A Pumper and at least two firefighters per shift.
Station 2 has responded to 92 incidents since opening just more than 30 days ago, including 16 fire calls, 45 EMS calls, 24 rescue calls and seven accidents with injuries.
Along with answering these calls, the addition of Station 2 has also decreased response times and lowered the ISO insurance ratings of people throughout the Rocky Plains community.
Station 2 is just one of eight Newton County Fire Services stations that serve Newton County (the city of Covington has two located inside the city limits) 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
