The Newton County Board of Commissioners adopted the Fiscal Year 2021 Budget for operation of the county government during its Regular Meeting Tuesday, July 21.
The County will operate on a total budget of $104,587,269, including a general fund budget of $74,398,136.
This year’s budget includes new positions in public safety and other services for the community, including providing personnel for two brand new and one additional renovated fire station in FY21.
In order to fund the budget, a millage rate of 12.196 will be voted on by the Board of Commissioners on Aug. 4. The millage rate is a reduction of .514 mils, which qualifies under the definition of a rollback rate.
